Skill Set :

1. Experience with at least one scripting language, such as Python or JavaScript.
2. Expertise with at least one system language, such as C, C++, Go, or Rust.
3. Knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP, application security, monitoring, and storage.
4. Experience with Linux and Operating System principles.
5. Experience with container-based solutions like Docker.
6. Experience with cloud services and best practices.
7. Ability to empathize with non-technical audiences and engineers whose area of interest or experience lies outside SRE and Infrastructure.
8. Experience with system performance diagnostic tools, such as lsof, strace, perf.
9. Experience with Kubernetes and container-based orchestration.

Job Description :

As a member of Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) team, you will be responsible for ensuring the stability of Yahoo’s products and infrastructure alongside other DevOps teams. We operate services at a scale covering our entire software, system, and network footprint across our data centers and multiple cloud service providers. We encourage new ideas, and continuously experiment and evaluate new technologies. 1. Monitor, detect, and troubleshoot issues of varying complexity and at scale.
2. Manage system builds, configuration, patches, and upgrades.
3. Collaborate with other service, network, and facilities teams.
4. Apply creative and practical solutions to resolve non-routine problems.
5. Develop and apply tools to automate deployment, administration, and monitoring.
6. Apply experience about system methodologies, designs, and troubleshooting techniques.
7. The ideal candidates should have a range of computer science skills, be results-oriented, driven, and possess a demonstrable sense of ownership.
8. We are currently staffing for all shifts, including days, swing, nights, and some weekend coverage. For this role, we are 100% Work From Home, with very minimal travel expected.
